Civic Engagement
For Freedoms 50 State Initiative
( A )
In October 2018, I had the incredible opportunity to be a part of one of the largest collaborative projects in the United States. The 50 States Initiative Project, created by For Freedoms, invited artists to use billboards as tools of civic engagement, rather than advertising, and fill them with art and design that created political conversation and commentary.

In a six person team of volunteer students (Ethan Coy, Alex Brizee, Britani Phelps, Nicole Mashburn, Kiel Kleeburg, and I) we were able to design a billboard that we hoped would highlight the importance of voting during the midterm elections and voting in general. The process of first hearing about the billboard to sending off the completed design was done in one week.
